Back in March, the House of Representatives refused to take a stand against anti-Semitic statements made by members of the Democratic Party. Rep. Ilhan Omar had made specific statements questioning the support of Israel and that doing so gave the impression of duel loyalty.
In the weeks following, there was a push for an anti-semitism resolution, which evolved into a anti-hate resolution. It was the first time Democrats refused to rebuff the anti-Semitism in these new freshmen. The hate resolution attempted to include all forms of hate, but only those which people could think of at the time of writing.
Rep. Omar denied her anti-Semitism along with other Democrats who joined in defending her. Fast forward through time and we come to July where a now brazen Omar sponsored a resolution that supported the BDS movement. On the podcast, I discussed the issues with the BDS movement and what it stood for.
Omar’s resolution did not pass, but it wasn’t the final thing that came up regarding her anti-Semitic views. On Thursday, another resolution was presented to the House which condemned the BDS movement. This resolution was a non binding resolution however, meaning that the resolution was not an official law or stance, merely lip service.
A binding resolution, known as HR 336 was introduced earlier this year. It has already passed the Senate, but has been blocked so far by House Democrats. The bill, known as Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act of 2019, helps to continue to provide for a safe and secure nation of Israel while also combating the BDS movement. Why would Democrats block this bill if they are not anti-Semitic?
The answer to this is easy, because the new “squad” is anti-Semitic. As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words and the actions of these freshmen representatives speaks volumes. Just take into account the vote from Thursday and you’ll see.
In the House vote, the measure condemning the BDS movement, even though it was merely lip service, passed with 398 yea votes. There were 12 non voting members, 5 voted present and 17 voted against the measure. Those 17 members included Rep. Omar, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Tlaib. The only squad member missing was Rep. Pressley, who was quick to state that her support was simply because it was a non-binding resolution.
The BDS movement claims it wants peace as a Palestinian led movement, but that’s hard to prove when rockets consistently destroy Israeli villages. Back in May, 250 rockets flew into Israel. Certainly sounds like the Palestinians are after peace and tranquility right? This type of violence is exactly what the “squad” support. They are not interested in peace, but in the dismantling and destruction of the Jewish Nation. Which just happens to be the end goal of the BDS movement.
