Don’t Stand with the U.S. Because They Won’t Stand With You

Charlotte, NC — As the Taliban has taken the city of Kabul, American embassy staff and the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani flee for safety aboard helicopters. The chaos erupting live on a global stage seems quite contradictory to what President Biden described last month as an “orderly” transition and removal of American forces from Afghanistan. 

Across the world, global leaders are looking to The United States and asking, is this the new American response and foreign diplomatic policy? What’s more, as the Biden administration looks to negotiating with the Taliban, a terrorist and radical regime well-known for violating women’s rights, fanaticism, and murder, the citizens of Kabul and across Afghanistan know the fate that surely awaits them.

The United States has been engulfed in the War on Terrorism worldwide, but especially in Afghanistan, for over 20 years. As Americans prepare to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks that killed nearly 3,000, many ask what has been gained. Perhaps more importantly, what has been lost? 

To date, America has spent nearly $2.26 trillion on its war in Afghanistan, with over 2,300 military men and women lives lost. 4 U.S. presidents have presided over this war, with President Biden stating that under his watch, “there will not be a fifth.” 

As American embassy staff flees on helicopters, in what appears to be there running for their lives, what message is being sent to the rest of the world? Most assuredly for China and Russia, both of which are funneling money to the Taliban to undermine American-back democracy, the message is — “America is a Paper Tiger.” 

For North Korea, the message could be that of emboldened ambition — continue to detest American diplomacy efforts and hold the people of Japan and South Korea hostage with their nuclear aspirations and weapons testing. 

For other dictatorial regimes across the globe, The United States, under President Biden, appears weak, ready to flee in the face of danger. America’s adversaries are celebrating today in the streets — from Baghdad to Tehran, Pyongyang to Moscow. The United States, under a “lay down your arms liberal logic,” will put generations of Americans at risk. Unnecessary and illogical, but historical.

America has a history of dismantling and departing — ask the 180,000 people killed during Saddam Hussein’s “Anfal” campaign that targeted Iraqi Kurds in the late 1980s and 90s after the United States left them defenseless against the wrath of his regime and after the Gulf War. 

For over 100 years, The United States has looked to be a symbol of freedom, a global spreader of hope. But as Afghanistan falls to terror and the Taliban, Joe Biden, his administration, and the liberals that blindly follow him have set the stage for America forever being seen as a lame-duck deliverer and deserter of democracy.
