White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to comment on President Joe Biden’s seventh grandchild when asked by a reporter on Wednesday whether President Joe Biden acknowledges “this little girl as his granddaughter.”
“I don’t have anything to share from here,” Jean-Pierre said when asked about the child, who is in the news after a New York Times profile last week. Four-year-old Navy Joan is the daughter of Hunter Biden and his former mistress Lunden Alexis Roberts, but the first family refuses to acknowledge the child, who was proven through a paternity test to be Hunter Biden’s daughter.
Aides in the White House have been instructed that the family has six grandchildren, not seven, according to the Times.
Biden in April appeared to deny the child’s existence. “I have six grandchildren. And I’m crazy about them. And I speak to them every single day,” Biden told a crowd of children.
Joan was the subject of a custody battle in Arkansas between Hunter Biden and Roberts in recent months that ended in June with a settlement. Biden agreed to pay an undisclosed amount in child support and give a number of his paintings to his daughter.
