For the past two decades, Congress has displayed unwavering bipartisan support for bondholders’ endeavors to tackle China’s default through various congressional resolutions. Surprisingly, successive American administrations have chosen to remain reticent on the issue, opting instead to defer it in the optimistic anticipation of China’s eventual assimilation of Western values and norms. However, the present moment beckons us to put an end to this inaction.
