President Joe Biden said he is “crazy” about his grandchildren despite refusing to acknowledge one granddaughter’s existence for years.
“I’m crazy about my grandkids,” Biden chuckled on Friday during a ceremony honoring Mark Milley, who retired as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Biden, however, refused for years to recognize his seventh grandchild, four-year-old girl Navy Joan, who is Hunter Biden’s child with former stripper Lunden Alexis Roberts. A paternity test in 2019 proved that the first son is the child’s father.
Despite a DNA test proving Hunter Biden’s paternity, Joe Biden until this summer failed to acknowledge Joan when referring to his grandchildren. It was reportedly White House policy to deny the granddaughter’s existence.
“In strategy meetings in recent years, aides have been told that the Bidens have six, not seven, grandchildren,” the New York Times reported in July.
That changed following the Times‘ report, and after columnist Maureen Dowd slammed Biden in a scathing column calling for the president to acknowledge Joan.
“This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter,” Biden said in a July statement finally acknowledging his granddaughter. “Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”
