Texas is suing the Biden administration for destroying razor wire intended to keep illegal migrants from crossing into the state.
“Texas has the sovereign right to construct border barriers to prevent the entry of illegal aliens,” Texas attorney general Ken Paxton said Tuesday in a statement announcing the suit. “Americans across the country were horrified to watch Biden’s open-border policy in action: agents were physically cutting wires and assisting the aliens’ entry into our state. This is illegal. It puts our country and our citizens at risk. The courts must put a stop to it, or Biden’s free-for-all will make this crushing immigration crisis even worse.”
The lawsuit names the Department of Homeland Security, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and other agencies and Biden officials. The state alleges the federal government has “developed and implemented a practice of destroying” border wire that the state put up amid record illegal immigration.
The suit comes as illegal immigrants from hostile countries continue to stream into the nation. Several Iranian citizens have been apprehended at the border in recent months.
The Iranians are considered “special interest aliens” because the U.S. government designates Iran a supporter of terrorism.
A House report from earlier this month said that under the Biden administration there has been “virtually no enforcement of our immigration law.”
