America has lost one of its best “Friends.”

Matthew Perry, one of the talented stars of the blockbuster TV comedy “Friends” was found dead in his hot tub at his home in the Pacific Palisades area off Los Angeles on Saturday, in what appress to be an accidental drowning death. He was 54.

The Los Angeles Times reported: “Authorities responded about 4 p.m. to his home, where he was discovered unresponsive. The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing, did not cite a cause of death. No drugs were found at the scene, sources said. Additionally, no foul play is suspected, according to law enforcement sources. A representative for Perry did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment.

“The Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery-homicide detectives are investigating the death. The cause of death will be determined at a later date by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.”

Ironically, Perry’s final post on social media this week included a photo of himself wearing headphones in a hot tub on a moonlit night, with the message: “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”

Actor Kevin Sorbo wrote of Perry: “Matthew and I were in the same acting class back in the early 90’s just before he got Friends and I got my Hercules TV series. First time I say him do a scene in class I thought, ‘This guy is hilarious. He should be on a sitcom.’ RIP, sir.”

Movie star James Woods commented: “I never got to meet or work with Matthew Perry, but like everyone else, I’m shocked and saddened by his untimely passing. What a tribute to his artistry and humanity that we all feel as though we’ve lost a best friend.”
