Although the story’s official details are unknown, Macchio will portray Daniel LaRusso, the karate champion Pat Morita’s Mr. Miyagi trained, much like he did in 1984. In the 2010 Karate Kid remake, Chan reprised his role as Mr. Han, the kung fu expert who assisted Jaden Smith in fending off bullies. The director is Jonathan Entwistle.
