Donald Trump has been talking about Spygate for along time now and many folks did not really pay him much attention. A couple of recent articles have brought to light that Spygate may really be a thing after all!
First, there’s an article that posted yesterday at the NY Times that describes how the FBI sent an investigator posing as an assistant to meet with George Papadopoulos, a Trump Campaign advisor. The NY Times writer alleges that this was simply part of the investigation into the Russia tampering in the 2016 Election, but the question that was given in the article by the investigator was if the campaign was working with Russia. We’re all familiar with the wiretapping and the other accusations that have come out since the 2016 election cycle and during the Mueller investigation but the story doesn’t end there.
The story continues in that there were contacts from the DNC that reached out to the Ukraine embassy to find dirt on Trump during the 2016 election cycle. These reports highlight the desperation on the Democratic side to stem the potential election of President Trump. It’s also interesting because it certainly sounds like an abuse of power by the Obama administration in coordination with the DNC during the election. It has some interesting reminders of the Watergate scandal that struck the Republican party in years past.
Even if you do not want to take the viewpoint regarding the similarities given, these actions should cause you some concern. It’s evident that the Democrats were using any/all tactics to keep Trump from being elected. The Democrats were involving foreign governments into attempts to keep Trump from being elected. Even though they keep pointing to Russia collusion and obstruction of justice, it’s the Democrats that were engaging in collusion and obstructing justice by using federal departments, such as the FBI, to conduct political research on the opposition.
