Over the past few weeks, the story of Jeffrey Epstein was slowly developing and a lot of interest in the final outcome was building. As the details continued to come out, Alex Acosta was forced to resign due to how the case was handled many years ago. There were lots of assumptions that many individuals may face accusations and inclusion into his reported sex trafficking ring.
On Saturday, Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell of an apparent hanging at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. This came just hours after documents were unsealed from prior investigations that included statements from Virginia Guiffre. In her statements, Guiffre stated she was used as a sex slave to provide services for former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, former Maine Sen. George Mitchell and Prince Andrew. A photo used for evidence to support her claims with Prince Andrew can be found here.
So where does the investigation go now? There are a lot of thoughts in regards to the death and how it happened. We know that the prison was not following appropriate protocol. Epstein was removed from suicide watch and his cell mate was removed just a few short weeks after having attempted suicide. I would agree that it is ironic that his suicide came just hours after the release of the documents that implicated many Democrats and that former President Clinton took trips with Epstein.
What I would disagree with however is with President Trump’s suggestion that the Clintons were responsible for the murder of Epstein. Trump retweeted the video below by Terrence Williams suggesting that it was a work of the Clinton’s to silence Epstein.
Now before you go all conspiracy theorist on me, hear me out. I understand that the Clintons could have potentially wanted to silence Epstein due to the things that were going on, but so would a lot of other people. According to an article at Bloomberg, over 1,000 names were mentioned in his black book. I also would not say that Trump is to blame either, since he has not been shy about stating how he felt about Epstein. He had said in the past Epstein liked women as he did, but then also said he was no longer a fan.
The investigation must continue into Epstein and his conspirators to determine who all was involved and how many people were effected. It’s not only owed to the victims, but based on the “who’s who” list of those potentially involved, it’s owed to the American people. The events that are accused are nothing short of sickening and anyone that was involved needs to be held accountable for their actions.
I certainly subscribe to the belief that you are innocent until proven guilty. I am also reminded in this instance that actions speak louder than words. It’s certainly telling that Epstein would kill himself rather than face the criminal investigation that was before him. It should certainly be the driving force behind finding out who was involved and prosecuting them all for the thing done to these women.
