I was scrolling through a recent magazine delivery (thanks Apple News+) when I ran across a two-faced article from The Atlantic. Obviously, I knew The Atlantic was a left wing outlet. The magazine cover is catchy however. It says, “How To Stop A Civil War.” How can you not look at that?
So I immediately started scrolling through articles and much of it was how I suspected. I usually stop and read the editor’s note and determine if there’s an article worth reading. Just the editor’s notewas absolutely mind blowing. Let me explain.
Jeffrey Goldberg wrote the December 2019 Editor’s Note. The first line of the article starts, “The 45th President of the United States is uniquely unfit for office.” Wow, talk about going right to the point. He continues to calling Trump a threat to our democratic institutions and referencing the failures of our democratic system. It was a great example of another Democrat unthankful for our country.
As I continued to read, Goldberg continues to place blame on demographic upheaval, racism and inequality. He includes great words that Democrats love like disenfranchisement and unequal distribution of wealth. None of this had surprised me up to this point. I had figured I would read this type of garbage.
But the statements that followed were surprising. The Editor went back to the founding of The Atlantic. He suggested that The Atlantic was meant to be a magazine of the American idea. That it was for American unity. He says that The Atlantic promotes the pursuit of a more perfect union which is at the core of the American idea.
So if they are so into promoting unity, lets look at their articles from this issue shall we? The magazine goes after hot topic abortion, but in a subtle way of course. In this article, the writer seeks for mercy and empathy for those choosing abortion. I am certain that this article is not promoting unity or the pursuit of a more perfect union.
Then, you can read the article titled “Civility is Overrated.” In that article, the author talks about how all inclusive the Democratic Party is, but how racist and religiously bigoted the Republican Party is. Here is the desire of unity by The Atlantic on full display yet again.
The left wing media garbage may seem okay on the surface. As you dig into the articles and writings, you can easily see the radical ideas. The Editor’s Note is there to highlight the stories in the issue, but it simply tells you about the garbage. There is no support of American unity in this issue.
If the authors want to talk about American unity, lets talk about the issues and how we come together. Painting Republicans as racist, religious bigots does nothing to unite our country. Of course, we’ve come to expect this from left wing media outlets.
So what could unify us? Until the left stops waging social class war, it will be almost impossible. In the past, we had unity behind things outside of the political realm. Sports, music, religion and many other things united us. I’ve mentioned it many times, we have nothing that is free from politics anymore.
The left celebrates people that politicize those things. Think about people like LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick, Taylor Swift, Madonna or others who have made statements. Sure, they are entitled to their opinion, but they do it in the midst of their profession which should be free from politics.
The left has promoted images of Trump beheaded, suggested he be pushed off a cliff and even a broadway show was stopped to make a political statement. If this had been from a Republican, well they would have been cancelled. The left is not interested in unity. They are simply interested in continuing to drive the divide and incite violence against conservatives.
