Washington, DC – The Associated Press recently ran an article that said, “despite the risks,” Trump was taking the drug hydroxychloroquine. The report includes a memo that shares how President Trump and his physician discussed the risks versus the rewards. The decision was made that President Trump should take the medication to help with the potential risk of coronavirus.
This came after multiple people inside the White House had tested positive for coronavirus. So the risk to the President was at a high level, and they decided it was best to start the medication. But this highlights a stark difference between how President Trump is willing to respond versus his counterparts.
President Trump, throughout the coronavirus response, has proposed new ways of responding. He has imposed the Defense Production Act. He has proposed holding China accountable for their actions. From the time he was elected, he shared the importance of focusing on America first and producing things in our country. Now, we see he was right all along.
What have the Democrats offered? They have proposed a government takeover of medical supplies. Democrats have pushed for government takeover of hospitals. They have also suggested that everyone should simply sit at home and cower under the stay orders.
Before you say that I’m ignoring the Republicans that implemented the stay orders, I’m not. Many of the Republican governors have eased the stay orders in their states much quicker than the Democrats. All amid criticism from the Democrats.
The Democrats released their latest attempt to “act” in the recently proposed “Heroes” act. While I understand it’s dubbed the “Heroes” act referring to the hazard pay that’s included, the law is far from a hero for anyone in our country.
Hazard pay, a small addition to the small business loan program, and additional funds for testing were some of the highlights that were pushed by mainstream media. They were proud of their state and local government assistance. The level of government bloating in the socialist wish list bill was incredible and buried in the small print of articles.
They pushed their “equality” act in the bill. Student debt forgiveness and free housing was included. They planned that Americans should just sit back and let the government take care of them.
President Trump’s approach is much different. Through his example, he is showing that Americans shouldn’t just sit back and wait on the government. He shows a proactive approach, and it’s not only in his conversation with his doctor about the medication.
Contracts are being awarded to pharmaceutical companies to start producing medications here in the United States. It’s an effort to stop dependence on China for drugs and pharmaceutical supplies. It’s a move that Trump indicated should be happening back in 2017, but now we are learning a painful lesson.
This proactive approach to leadership is something that has been lacking in Washington. Rather than the government telling us what we need, we need a government that allows the American people to determine what is required.
Trump is working to create an America first economy that allows us to respond to issues like this. He is not willing to sit around and wait, like the Democrats. He wants to act, and he wants to move now.
