Understand True Charity and Escape Fear this Christmas

Charity, Fear, Christmas, COVID, Andrew Napolitano,

Charlotte, NC — “And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.’”—Luke 2: 10-14

It’s Christmas 2021, and what’s true today will be true tomorrow and was true yesterday. Throughout history it’s been true that sinful man needed a savior, and God gave us the Savior in Jesus Christ who was truly God and truly man, miraculously born of a virgin, which is why any of us who calls ourselves Christians celebrate Christmas.

This Christmas, let’s rededicate ourselves to God’s will and the great commission to make disciples of men.

Recently, a poll came out showing a 12 percent drop in the number of American adults who call themselves Christian. I watched a pastor and an anchor, who stated she was a Christian, discuss this poll. Their concerns surrounded what this means for the physical churches and their religious traditions.

They have made an idol out of their churches and traditions. They showed no concern that there are lost souls out there headed for Hell if they continue down their current paths rejecting the free gift of eternal life offered to all who accept it.

This is of no surprise to me. Over decades and decades, the American government has become a false god while the churches have stood by idly refusing to buck the system over fears of losing their tax-exempt status.

We have a government that steals from some to hand to others and arrogantly takes credit for being “charitable.”

True charity doesn’t come from government force, it comes from individual will.

“When the government claims it is being charitable with your money, it is looking for political support from those who have received what it has taken from you,” wrote Andrew Napolitano. “That’s not charity. Charity is freely given, not governmentally taken.”

Napolitano added: “Of course, the greatest charity is laying down one’s life for one’s friends. Taking Christmas seriously means recognizing not only Jesus’ virgin birth, not only His hypostatic union, not only His love of humanity, but also His crucifixion and resurrection …. Taking Christmas seriously means humility, charity and abandonment to His will.”

As Napolitano also noted, to truly take Christmas seriously is to always reject abortion. The power-hungry king Herod ordered all male children 2 and younger be killed because the threat Jesus Christ was to his power. Today, we have planned parenthood using our tax dollars to murder unborn babies.

Our government continues to push fear of a virus in an attempt to plunge us into complete darkness.

So, what should all of us who call ourselves Christians do? Reject the fearmongers and live our lives. Spread the gospel throughout the land. What America needs is God, not lockdowns.

This Christmas, I hope you’ve rejected that fear. I hope you are with family and friends. Celebrate the birth of our Savior. Thank God that he sent His one and only Son to earth to die for our sins.

The only way to defeat the darkness is with light. Speak the truth, unafraid of the consequences.

As Napolitano also wrote:

“What if the true God made us in His own image and likeness? What if the most similar likeness between us mortals and the true God is personal freedom?”

“What if just as God is perfectly free, so are we perfectly free? What if we have failed to preserve freedom and have permitted governments to take it from us?”

“What if we can never pursue happiness fully or know God completely without personal freedom?”

“What if the world was full of darkness before He came into it? What if there is much darkness still today but some glimmers of light? What if those glimmers of light are from places of faith in Him? What if those places of faith in Him are also places of joy? What if we recognize that He is the light of the world?”
