Fort Smith, AR — The importance of learning from history is vital to preventing society from repeating the same mistakes. Critical Race Theory is one such iteration that has made rapid inroads into American politics, dividing to promote “social justice.”
Marxists led by Carl Grunberg at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, organized nearly a century ago with the Institute of Social Research, also known as the ISR. Critical Theory was one of the Frankfurt School’s key weapons against Western civilization. Max Horkheimer, then Director of the ISR, argued in his 1937 essay “Traditional and Critical Theory” that the aim of Critical Theory is to bring about radical social change by exposing capitalism’s alleged oppression of people.
Marxism thrived on class conflict in order to cause violent revolutions in society; however, with race conflict taking precedence over class conflict in society today, traditional Marxism has lost much of its relevance. Various derivatives of postmodernism came into existence over the years, such as the Frankfurt School, which was also explicitly critical of Marxist economics in its particulars, although it retained the overarching aim of overthrowing the ruling classes and establishing a sort of communistic state.
The term “Critical Race Theory” originated with an article written by Derrick Bell entitled ‘Racism Without Racists’ which appeared in Harvard Law Review. In the 1990s, Bell, then a professor at Harvard, along with Richard Delgado, Charles Lawrence, Mari Matsuda, and Patricia Williams, developed what is now known as Critical Race Theory (CRT) based on the roots of Critical Theory and Critical Legal Theory. A preliminary analysis reveals that the nature of this system is founded in the teachings of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Antonio Gramsci, Herbert Marcuse, Michel Foucault, and Paulo Freire. Where we find ourselves today comes from the 2001 book where Delgado and Stefancic outlined the key beliefs in “Critical Race Theory: An Introduction.”
CRT and Critical Theory share the same goal: to destroy Western civilization and impose a top-down, authoritarian government. As opposed to traditional Marxism, the nation’s new racial overlords would divide the nation’s property and give it to recipients based on race instead of redistributing it to “oppressed” workers. As always with Marxist redistribution schemes, the property would most likely end up in the hands of a state in practice.
Rather than unite, CRT divides. There is a social dichotomy of victim versus oppressor based on racial divisions. CRT has labeled “Blacks” as oppressed and labeled “Whites” as oppressors. Those labeled as “Whites” are further entrapped into confessing to being racist, and if they disagree with this position and do not confess to being racist, then they are labeled as racists implicitly. In this system, implicit bias can be reduced only by self-criticizing, acknowledging privilege, and apologizing to the “oppressed” race. The CRT methodology does not consider people individually but rather as merely representative units of their race. Other “oppressed” groups can be classified according to their sexuality, disability, religion, socioeconomic status, and even their gender. Identifying with multiple “oppressed groups” is called intersectional oppression.
The Critical Race Theory proponents assert that virtually anything anyone can imagine is racist. The names of certain animals are racist, music theories and genres can be considered racist in general, and even mathematics can be regarded as racist. According to CRT, racism is “normal” and not an aberration, and its advocates call this “systemic racism,” in which case Critical Race Theory is defined as “a study” of this so-called systemic racism by finding racism in all aspects of western society.
In CRT’s Social Justice construct, racism is assumed to be the cause of social injustice and does not need to be proven. CRT advocates that people who are “White” are born racist. Social justice is ultimately the only thing that matters to CRT advocates. AII unequal outcomes are attributed to race and are the responsibility of the “oppressor” group.
It is essential that we also note that a fundamental reason the Common Core system was pushed and implemented in the U.S. was to “eliminate unequal outcomes” in education and has resulted in regressive, ineffective education modeling. Left-leaning politicians try to push CRT requirements into school curriculum by linking the new requirement with grant money. The government should not fund teaching kids to hate their country, making them feel at odds with their classmates and indoctrinating students to judge others based on their race. CRT seeks to make some children feel guilt and anguish based on the color of their skin and not as a result of their actions.
There is seemingly an endless list of logical fallacies in many of the arguments advanced by these proponents, many of which you have likely already identified. We must fight back and protect our way of life from this corrupt system by recognizing CRT by its fraudulent packaging, calling it out, and educating others about the implications of this system. Proponents of CRT have positioned themselves by labeling their agenda as anti-racist, so that they can justify their own policies and power grabs, which somehow explains their intentions no matter how extreme.
CRT leader Ibram X. Kendi, director of Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research, recently proposed a full-fledged racial dictatorship via a “Department of Antiracism.” This proposed department would have the power to overturn any law or policy if the department, which would be beyond the reach of voters, determined that it was not doing enough to do so.” Politicians’ speeches and other public statements would be regulated by the new department. Kendi has explained that it is his belief that to be genuinely anti-racist, one must also be anti-capitalist.
CRT seeks to undermine our way of life as Americans through deceptive means and creating division among our Citizens. We must all stand together as Americans and critical race theory seeks to divide us through subversion and manipulation. CRT suppresses dissent through “cancel culture”, meaning those who don’t comply experience difficulties, such as ending relationships, having college admissions revoked, or losing their jobs. In addition, Critical Race Theory fundamentally violates Title VI/VIL of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, as well as anti-discrimination legislation. Any form of Critical Race Theory must be removed from school curriculum as well as the workplace and we must remain vigilant as proponents of this ideology seek to rebrand it.
