New York, NY — The two people currently applying for Jeff Zucker’s job — Jim Acosta and Brian Stelter – recently addressed Joe Rogan’s “N word” controversy:
Acosta: “And you and I both know that compilation right there, which he has admitted to, is authentic, that would be enough to put anybody out of a job. To me, it seems untenable to have that kind of video surface, that kind of compilation surface, and keep one’s job.”
The key word here is “surface.” And they are not afraid to use it.
Joe Rogan is a shock jock. He uses offensive language for a living. There are many of his kind – Howard Stern, Bill Maher and Sarah Silverman being among the liberals’ favorites. If you look through their content from years ago, you’d find things that would not only get them fired, but also have them banned from every social media outlet, so they are never heard from again. Their “hurtful language” and “harmful stereotypes” are available on the internet for anybody willing to look. But shockingly, nothing has “surfaced” – yet. As long as they toe the progressive “party line,” they are safe.
The ”surfacing” of damaging information works like clockwork. Every time a celebrity dares to stray from the groupthink of the liberal elite, out of nowhere comes plethora of “unacceptable views” (to quote Justin Trudeau) they voiced decades ago, likely while being drunk at a high school party.
Joe Rogan got into the crosshairs of the woke mob when he disclosed that his Covid treatment regimen did not pass Doctor Fauci’s seal of approval. Rogan was well within his rights to do that – the hosts of The View make millions talking out of their rear ends every morning. But let’s pretend for a minute that Joe Rogan is not completely correct in his “medical guidance.” Could he be guilty of just being mistaken? What the Whoopi-gate showed us is a person can be ignorant without being morally reprehensible. Can a person have “an alternative” view on Covid without being a racist, a sexist, a homophobe, and a bully who ate his friend’s lunch in elementary school?
Not according to the media. Once a celebrity dares to leave the Hollywood’s far left herd, they don’t just need to be canceled for being wrong – they need to be completely discredited and humiliated. The message to the public must be clear: “If you listen to Joe Rogan, that means you condone the use of the N word. If you trust Joe Rogan over Sanjay Gupta, you are “just as racist” as Joe Rogan. If you continue listening to Joe Rogan, we’ll find out where you live and we’ll make sure you’ll never work again.”
The reason all the damaging info “surfaces” at exactly the right time is there is an industry of highly paid attack dogs, well trained to find “the dirt” on anyone. The smear merchants are assassins for hire to do one thing: destroy other people’s lives. When they receive their “attack” directive from their progressive overlords, they start combing the internet for old tweets, blog posts, and comedy skits from decades ago. They sift through phone directories looking for anybody willing to give them “the scoop”: disgruntled coworkers, emotionally damaged ex-girlfriends, and jealous former classmates. Because anybody who is even moderately successful has their share of ill-wishers, something always “surfaces.”
Independent journalist Sharyl Attkisson documented this in her book “The Smear:”
“Today’s smear artists are sophisticated strategists. Well paid front men for rich and powerful interests. They research and monitor targets using every available weapon of modern technology…
Some smears involve entirely fabricated material. But many believe the most effective smears include an element of fact to provide patina of credibility. Media Matters had figured that out with its takedowns of Don Imus and Glenn Beck.
The public has no idea of the extent to which news is influenced by smear merchants… The best smear artists are sociopaths without conscience, without regret… The ends justify the means. Facts exist to be re-written, twisted, or discarded if they don’t fit the agenda…
The smear industry has become a massive enterprise in Washington DC and New York City.”
If you look at the video montage being used to destroy Joe Rogan, it has all the markings of well-executed smear: decades-old video clips professionally put together without providing any context. It’s meant to leave no reasonable doubt that Joe Rogan is a racist jerk who constantly uses racial slurs.
The same tactic is used to promote “police are killing unarmed black men” narrative. When an incident happens, media takes the video and “loops” it (read: playing the same video over and over) so people watch it for hours, mistakenly believing that they are watching multiple different incidents. As a result, people who watch mainstream media believe the police kills black people in astronomical numbers.
STELTER: They might try to claim, oh, this was all in the past. But you are right, Jim, there are many examples including in Hollywood and entertainment where people have lost their roles for less than this.
In yet another stunning exercise in lack of self-awareness, Brian Stelter is stating that “people lost their jobs for far less,” as if he had nothing to do with that. A smear merchant in his own right, Stelter amplifies every smear he can get his hands on, devoting countless TV hours “canceling” people who disagree with him.
Orchestrating a smear, the media kills two birds with one stone. First, they make sure that their enemy’s image is damaged beyond repair, and nobody will ever trust him again. And second, it sends a warning to the other future mavericks: “You are either with us or against us. Choose at your own peril!”
No human being in the world is a saint. All of us made social media posts or other public pronouncements that we later regretted. All of us, at some point in our lives, behaved in an unsavory manner. We all fall short sometimes. And as we recognize this and make amends, we don’t want our life “inspected” by the smear merchants, and have our personal “dirty laundry” all over TV screens for CNN to revel in. CNN’s thinly veiled threat of retaliation will prevent Joe Rogan’s followers from sticking their heads out, for fear of having their lives destroyed by acolytes of Brian Stelter and Jim Acosta.
