Podcaster Megyn Kelly announced Thursday that she will interview Donald Trump on September 14, seven years after their last interview and eight years after a feud between Trump and Kelly started at a 2015 Republican primary debate.
“Next week, I’ll be interviewing former president Donald Trump,” Kelly told her audience. “It will be my first interview with the former president in seven years, and there is so much to get to.”
Kelly, then a Fox News host, asked Trump at the 2015 debate about why “you’ve called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs,’ ‘dogs,’ ‘slobs,’ and ‘disgusting animals.'”
Trump snapped at Kelly for asking the question and kept criticizing her following the debate, telling CNN that “there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
Kelly and Trump had a single one-on-one interview after the debate in May 2016, during which he said that her question “was unfair.”
The podcaster said she is “very glad” that Trump, who is leading in the Republican primary polls, agreed to do the upcoming interview.
“Trump knows that I’m not, I’m not somebody who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome, like the vast majority of people in the media,” Kelly said, “but I’m also not a sycophant, so I’m not going to go in there and be a bootlicker.”
