Charlotte, NC — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died due to complications from pancreatic cancer. Ginsburg was an associate justice of the Supreme Court and was 87 years old. Ginsburg passed while being surrounded by family and friends.

Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died this evening surrounded by her family at her home in Washington, D.C., due to complications of metastatic pancreas cancer. She was 87 years old.

Ginsburg was nominated to the Supreme Court in 1993 by then-President Bill Clinton and has been one of the biggest supporters of the liberal side of the court since joining. For a time period, she was the only woman serving on the court.
