On Friday, President Donald Trump announced a new immigration deal had been reached with Mexico. The deal signifies that Mexico is going to help address the immigration problem through Mexico and to the southern US Border.
The deal ended the proposed 5% tariffs that had been suggested by President Trump and scheduled to go into effect on Monday. Many Republicans and Democrats alike were skeptical of the Presidents bargaining tactic, yet he was successful in achieving an agreement. Of course, the deal was not met without continued statements from doubtful Democrats.
On Saturday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi continued the statements about President Trumps deal, stating that President Trump was negotiating through temper tantrums and threats. Of course, Nancy Pelosi doesn’t have much to stand on since she and her Democrat colleagues have not accomplished anything in regards to illegal immigration in several years. Why would the Democrats be upset about Trump having done such a great thing?
Apparently, it comes down to their concern over future voters who would vote in elections. In March, nearly every Democrat in the house voted against proposed legislation that spoke out against illegal immigrants voting in the election. Is it that crazy to want someone to be a legal citizen of our country to vote in our elections?
The concern doesn’t stop there however. Back in April, an article over at The Hill explained how illegal immigration effects voting even if the illegal immigrants do not vote. Electoral college votes are tied to the number of congressional representatives and determined by the amount of people that report living in an area, not simply the number of citizens.
According to Pew Research, the majority of illegal immigrants end up residing in major metropolitan areas. So why do Democrats want to stop the influx of their potential voters to help them swing elections and Electoral College votes. I wrote previously how the Electoral College favors those in rural areas allowing them to have a voice.
Want to know why Democrats don’t want to address illegal immigration? The Democrats success plan revolves around continued flooding of metropolitan areas and either elimination or control of the Electoral College. Immigration is important for the US and is a big part of our history, but we must focus on those who want to do it the right way.
