Charlotte, NC — On Sunday, two prominent RINO’s said that Republicans need to tone down the rhetoric and return to their party principles to help move our country forward. Former House Speaker John Boehner said that “Republicans have to go back to being Republicans.” He made his comments in an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union.
Boehner said that Republicans need to return to a platform of fiscal responsibility and a strong national defense in order to win back the majority in 2022 and 2024. Boehner has been pushing the party to return to pre-Trump ideas and functionality. That same functionality led to the former President winning the 2016 nomination because everyday Americans were sick of the ridiculousness in Congress.
Boehner actually said recently he does not believe he belongs in the current iteration of the Republican party. He said that with President Donald Trump in full control he does not believe the party can win and that those in leadership are just desiring to create chaos. It’s very clear Boehner did not learn anything amid his clashes with conservatives which forced him to resign from the Speaker role.
Another RINO, former President George W. Bush, called for Congress overall to tone down the rhetoric about immigration and to focus on reforms. He said that immigration reform is needed and that the Republicans needed to embrace a pathway to citizenship for those in the country that are undocumented. He made his comments on CBS and said that he is lobbying Republicans to embrace the same immigration reforms that he failed to pass during his presidency.
Bush attempted to pass immigration reform, but the measure stalled in the Senate in 2007. The Democrats controlled the House and Senate during that year but Harry Reid could not get the measure to pass after 3 votes. The bill included the entire DREAM Act, along with provisions for immigrants to pay a fine and back taxes. Obviously, Democrats have an issue with someone paying a fine or back taxes.
In both instances, these RINO’s simply do not understand the American people. Americans want politicians that are focused on American interests, not the interests of everyone else. Boehner and Bush both led our country in ridiculous directions, which are in complete opposition to a conservative viewpoint.
For example, Boehner wants to discuss fiscal responsibility, but under his leadership, the national debt exploded. CNS News has a great story explaining how much it exploded in his first 3 years. So much for leading by example and those principles eh?
Bush wants to talk about undocumented immigrants and how we should embrace them and work on a pathway to citizenship. He, along with his close Democrat friends, continue to ignore the fact that these people violated our national laws, have taken American jobs and money (without paying taxes) and should be sent back to the country they came from. We have a legal pathway to citizenship now for anyone that wants to come here.
Neither of these men are principled conservatives. That is probably nothing I needed to tell you, however, since both spoke out against former President Donald Trump. The former President was far from perfect, but his policy was much more in line with the conservative principles of everyday Americans than either of these two individuals. They are part of the swamp that is working to destroy our country.
If you want to know what direction our country needs to go, you should probably just look in the opposite direction of either of these individuals. While Boehner may say the right things about fiscal responsibility and a strong defense, he did not lead that way while he was the Speaker. Bush wants to talk the talk of granting citizenship to those who fall under the DREAM Act, but that is far from the feelings of most conservatives.
It’s not time for Republicans to return to this form of leadership. It’s time for Republicans to become conservative once again. We need to rid the party of these ridiculous RINO’s and focus once again on conservative principles that put Americans first.
