On November 8, 2016, Donald J. Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States, and American Protectors of the Second Amendment celebrated with open arms and firearms. December 2016 registered the second-highest number of firearm background checks ever performed in the United States at 2,771,159. Since the Trump inauguration, gun sales have skyrocketed to blistering numbers to over double than the 8-years under President Obama. Donald Trump has been hailed a hero of Second Amendment supporters. In April 2017, he became the first president since Ronald Reagan in 1983 to speak at the National Rifle Association’s annual conference.
Despite attacks by the Left, President Trump has continued to embrace, respect, and protect the God-given right of Americans to keep and bear arms. The liberal controlled media outlets continue to portray American’s President as a racist, a bigot, and an “unfit lunatic” hellbent on leading this nation and the entire world into violence and destruction. Ironically, Barak Obama is often touted as the “most anti-gun president in American history.” Unfortunately, quite the opposite – Obama’s record on gun control is rather weak, at best.
The two gun laws signed by Obama expanded the rights of gun owners in the United States. Attempts to limit the size of gun magazines, expand background checks of gun buyers, and ban gun sales to buyers on terrorism watch lists all failed to pass into legislation under Obama. Today, Liberals point to Obama’s issuance of 23 executive actions on gun violence as proof that he was anti-gun. However, what most fail to point out is that those actions contained not a single piece of legal writing instead were executive actions and not executive orders.
In 2011, Obama wrote:
“In this country, we have a strong tradition of gun ownership that’s handed from generation to generation. Hunting and shooting are part of our national heritage. And my administration has not curtailed the rights of gun owners – it has expanded them, including allowing people to carry their guns in national parks.” Obama went on to state: “If you’ve got a rifle, you’ve got a shotgun, you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it away.” And yet, “Liberal Lunacy” would have Americans believe that Obama was the “getter of guns,” while Trump is in bed with the NRA.
There were 41 mass shootings during the eight-year Obama administration, including the massacre of Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, Connecticut. President Trump has also experienced mass casualty shootings halfway through his first term. However, today’s Americans have taken on the task of arming and protecting themselves and discrediting the need for armed protection against those who possess the wicked desire to cause harm.
Today, the loudest critics of the Second Amendment are those individuals who mostly come from political, social, or economic wealth or advantage. Take, for example, Nancy Pelosi, who, as Speaker of the House, is one of nine members of Congress that have federal protection details. Security is reserved for the most high-profile top leaders, including House Speaker, the majority and minority leaders of both parties in both houses, and the party whips who serve directly under the leaders. The rest are on their own.
For the Hollywood starlets who criticize firearm-bearing conservatives from their California mansions, many spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year on armed, top-level security details to shuttle their movements from Sunday brunch to bottomless sunbathing in Bali. And yet, these out-of-touch “Cali Crazies” believe that regular, everyday “Joe and Josephine” living on Main Street America should not be afforded the same rights of protection.
Sparking a very deadly summer in America, Donald Trump has maintained his continued support for gun rights in America – labeling mental disease and defect as the evil culprit at the center of this societal cancer to cause harm. 2018 registered the 2nd largest annual firearms background checks ever in American history. With three months left in 2019, Trump’s last year in office will rekindle the American call to arms to preserve and protect the God-given right of Americans to hold, possess and utilize firearms for sport and security.
