As I sat down to read through the news of the day, the most prominent thing to catch my attention was the multiple articles talking about conservative disinformation. An entire section of the news site that I viewed dealt with the subject. As I sat and looked through the headlines, two articles quickly jumped out. One discussed a billion dollar disinformation campaign and the other gave tips to avoid misinformation. I know you find it hard to believe that both were presented from the liberal viewpoint.
In this article from The Atlantic, a radical left-wing outlet, the author describes the entire Trump campaign and any other outlet supporting Trump as disinformation. Author McKay Coppins discusses how essentially everything from the Trump campaign is focusing on voter suppression and misinformation. The author describes how they signed up for the Trump notifications via text and several pro-Trump groups on social media. Then, the author acts as if it’s hard to believe they saw right wing news on their feed.
For every suggestion from the right, the author gives arguments how it is not true and disinformation. There’s just one problem. Half of this country does not view this information as “disinformation.” Half of this country actually sees through the media and their propaganda. Actually, it’s more than half based on this poll from September. The left simply cannot understand how anyone can support anything on the right.
Yet, people do support these views. Over 60 million people supported them in 2016. The media simply does not agree with the tactics that the Trump administration is utilizing to reach these people. According to the article from The Atlantic, the 2016 Trump campaign is one of the most sophisticated social media marketing campaigns ever. In 2020, the campaign will be going much bigger.
The targeting that the campaign is doing is specifically targeting people exactly where they are. Again, the article from The Atlantic even discussed how Obama did this during 2012. The difference? The Trump campaign is doing it much better. The Trump campaign is trying other formats and options, which may have not been considered in the past. The left is being beaten at their own game.
During the Obama administration, the left’s ownership of the media was on full display. Obama was in complete control of the media and the messages that were given to the American people. But now, the left is not in full control. The right has mobilized and utilized social media to its advantage. The left has no options but to label the campaigns disinformation and attempt to silence them. That is exactly what they are doing.
In October, Sen. Kamala Harris asked Twitter to suspend President Trump’s account. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has attacked Facebook for allowing ads spreading “disinformation,” calling them a shameful company. The left claims that ads should be fact checked before politicians can run them. But the problem is that the left wants to be the ones to fact check them and approve them. This is simply an effort to silence conservative opinion and thought.
So now the left is focusing on giving tips to avoid misinformation online. Various news outlets and left wing partisan groups are now distributing these handy guides to help you spot misinformation. The premise is that you can only trust main stream media and the left, but American’s will see through this. Sure, there are groups that may spread disinformation. But many of the complaints about the Trump campaign are simply about marketing strategies designed to obtain a reaction. This is exactly what President Trump needs for reelection.
The President’s supporters know that the left is in an all out assault to remove him and eliminate him from office. They also know that the radical left is in a war on all conservative ideals. The 2020 Democrat candidates and their platforms leave no doubt what the main goal is. The single most important goal is the elimination of freedom and rights. They want to push us to government dependence and programs. The fact that I said those things in this manner would cause them to label this piece as “misinformation.” But is it?
The answer is no. The agenda of the left is clearly to discredit the right and push everyone to dependence. They no longer hide behind the veil of “moderate” and are simply open with their liberal demands. Sure, you can pay attention to these “misinformation guides” if you would like. But these guides will not point you to the truth. It is sad that there’s very little truth in the media. Maybe they will learn after another defeat in 2020.
