On Saturday, multiple news outlets like The NY Times and The Hill ran stories talking about Erik Prince and the work he is accused of doing for Project Veritas. Project Veritas is the conservative group that has released multiple undercover sting videos in recent years. They have released videos that have implicated CNN, Google, Pinterest and more. The articles that were shared tied Prince and Project Veritas to President Trump and the Trump Administration.
According to the articles, many of the “stings” that Prince has been involved in recruiting for were described. Some involved infiltrating a teachers union in Michigan, while another described access to a congressional campaign in Virginia. From Project Veritas videos, several things have been identified and taken place. For example, ABC suspended a correspondent due to things he said on one of the videos.
The argument by many is that Project Veritas is attempting to prove liberal and main stream media bias. If you look at several of the articles about the organization, it simply says that makes accusations of media bias. Unfortunately, Project Veritas seemed to prove media bias with it’s videos from ABC and some recent regarding CNN in the past. It’s hard to argue that there is not bias, when clear bias seemed to be present. But that’s not what the media wants anyone to see.
A recent Gallup poll from 2019 shows that American’s trust in the news media is at 41%. But why is that the case? American’s are tired of the agenda’s being pushed by news outlets. The media does not give credit to Trump or any conservative for anything they do. Well, except Mitt Romney when he goes against Republicans. If a “Republican” goes against Republicans (think Justin Amash), they are celebrated as a hero. But when was the last time you heard media praise for anything a Republican has done?
You simply will not hear it. Project Veritas has set out to prove that, albeit through some unconventional means. What I find amusing is that the media would like you to believe these things do not exist. They want you to believe that they have your best interest in mind, but then they are proven wrong. Take for example recent actions by CNN anchors where they made fun of conservatives. You really could even pull other personalities like Chuck Todd into these conversations as well. But they are fair and equal to all, just simply presenting the facts.
Project Veritas and their actions have threatened some of the actions that the left and the media were undertaking out of the public view. Many assumed media bias at large tech firms and media outlets, they have proven it through their “sting” operations. Now, many of them will push to continue to silence Project Veritas. The group has been banned or censored on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube. While I may not always agree with the methods, the things they expose are interesting.
It’s important that someone pays attention to the things that you are hearing or seeing. For example, I am in no way presenting this article as an absolute truth. It is completely opinion and marked as such. Some people have complete faith in Project Veritas while others are skeptical. I’m simply here trying to point out the fact that they are causing issues for some of the companies that control the news and how we obtain it each and every day.
The use of the media for political purposes is nothing new in our country. In fact, it has a long rich history dating back to the founding of our country even. There’s some great stories on this website that you can read through if you’d like. Some of those stories talk about past President’s who claimed “fake news” or manipulation of the media. The great thing about it is that there are multiple sides to the story.
So while some politicians and news outlets want to silence “fake news” sites, it’s important that the full story is told. Some on the left would love nothing more than to silence our website, or other sites like ours. Just as they are entitled to tell their side, we are entitled to ours thanks to freedom of speech. As I said, it’s not exactly traditional, but Project Veritas is working to tell a different side to the story that normal Americans may not hear otherwise.
