Washington, D.C. — “If I was kind to them, I’d be walked off the stage,” the President said to Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum Sunday night’s Fox News Virtual Town Hall.
The president argued, “I am greeted with a hostile press the likes of which no president has ever seen.” He later made an odd, but very historically astute comparison to Abraham Lincoln as the interview was conducted in front of Lincoln’s statue at the Lincoln Memorial.
“The closest will be that gentleman up there,” he continued, gesturing toward the statue of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial. “They say nobody got treated worse than Lincoln… I believe I am treated worse. You see those press conferences. They come at me with questions that are disgraceful… their manner of presentation and their words. I feel if I was kind to them, I would be walked off the stage.”
The President was responding to a question submitted by a retired nurse and elementary school guidance counselor, Carolyn Perkins, who encouraged him to abandon his use of “descriptive words that can be classified as bullying,” and instead hold on to the “wonderful attributes that make you our great leader.”
The president pointed to the unbelievable statistic that 94 to 95 percent of the press’ coverage of him and his administration is negative. He continued, “we have tremendous support… but the media might as well be in the Democrat party.”
The president is used to receiving glowing coverage as his projects as the CEO of The Trump Organization as many were finished ahead of time and often under budget. The coverage, as he asserts, doesn’t reflect the remarkable job he and his administration has accomplished since January 20, 2017.
Before China held the entire globe hostage with their deliberate witholding of information regarding the Wuhan/Chinese virus, our economy was soaring to amazing levels, unemployment for many minority groups were at an all time low, a rebuilt military, massive tax cuts, and the deregulation allowing business to grow as the shackles of governmental regulation stifled growth.
Although there are many examples, Governor Andrew Cuomo’s coverage of the media is positively glowing despite strong similarities between his and president Trump’s press conferences. Concha noted that while both Cuomo and Trump have raised the possibility of using the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine as a treatment, the governor has largely escaped the harsh coverage Trump received for his remarks on the drug.
The majority of the press conference centered around the coronavirus as one could imagine. The president stated, “there’s no winner here, just so we all understand. There is no win This is not a situation where there’s a win.”
The Hill’s Joe Concha appeared Sunday night on Mark Levin’s show “Life, Liberty, and Levin.” He gave high praise that doctors were giving the American people information and educating them on this virus and how to stay safe. However, Concha said, “Then, everything completely falls apart. What we’re seeing is bias in broad daylight.”
What is clear is the media’s intention. However, what’s extraordinary is Trump’s ability to put up with this nonsense since he was elected.
