Washington, DC – On Tuesday, the Department of Justice dropped cases against three Senators for potential insider trading violations. Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler of Georgia and James Inhofe of Oklahoma were both cleared. Democrat Dianne Feinstein of California was also cleared.
One Senator that was left out of those who were cleared was North Carolina Senator Richard Burr (R). We detailed the claims against Richard Burr earlier in the month. He also had a phone seized while the FBI served a search warrant.
The fact that the Burr case is still pending is not surprising. The accusations against him were more severe and more involved than the others appeared to be. This could mean that the focus of the investigation is now entirely on Burr.
