Charlotte, NC – Throughout our Founder Friday series, we have taken a closer look at each of the first 10 Amendments to the US Constitution. This week, the US celebrates the 233rd anniversary of the signing of the Constitution. For this week’s edition of Founder Fridays, we will take a brief look at the body of the Constitution itself. Volumes of literature and centuries worth of legal opinions have been written about the Constitution, so we cannot cover each jot and tittle in detail, but we will briefly review each of the Articles individually.
The Preamble reads: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” Allow yourself to feel the gravity and sobriety of these words.
The haunting text provokes images of revolutionary soldiers freezing to death or dying of starvation to provide their posterity the “Blessings of Liberty.” It is shameful how far our pathetic leaders have fallen, fighting to bring about a Socialist revolution. We the People still believe in the miracle that is the United States of America and will forever hold these words in the preamble in the highest level of respect.
Article I creates the foundation for the Legislative branch of the government. The first Article describes the general structure and function of the House and Senate. It explicitly names the powers belonging to the Congress, and the 10AÂ delegates all powers not enumerated to the federal government to the states. It lays forth instructions on the scope of Congress’ power, from which they have long since strayed.
Article II describes the Executive Branch, including the requirements for the office of the President. It describes the powers vested to the President in the negotiation of treaties, creation of executive positions, and appointments of ambassadors. The Article also describes the creation of the Electoral College. Despite what the liberal mob and other morons would have you to believe, no, the Electoral college is not racist, nor is it a relic of white supremacy.
Article III creates the Judicial Branch of the government and describes the role of the Supreme Court. Notice the Article does not explicitly make a “lifetime appointment” for SCOTUS Justices. The common understanding is, however, that as long as Justices maintain “good behavior,” that their appointment will continue indefinitely. Only one sitting justice has ever been impeached, Samuel Chase, but was not removed from the Court.
Article IV describes the legal relationship between each of the states. The article guarantees a “Republican form of Government” to each state in the Union. It also allows for enough differentiation between any two states to allow for different laws, customs, and culture such that anyone can find a home here in the US.
Article V describes the process for amending the constitution. The last time a constitutional amendment was ratified was on May 5th, 1992, when Alabama ratified the 27th Amendment. Of the original 12 amendments proposed to the Constitution, only one, the Congressional Apportionment Amendment, remains to be ratified.
Article VI specifically bans any “religious test” as a requirement for office. Although voters often hold candidates for office to a religious test, asking questions such as “Is this person a man or woman of faith, and therefore able to be trusted?” the Constitution bars such test from formal, legal practice.
Article VII simply states: “The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same.” This article establishes consent among the governed.
Despite relentless attacks from progressives, the constitution remains the supreme law of the land. However, we now live in an age where sitting members of Congress actively call for “dismantling the whole system“. The petty and trivial wants of pathetic liberals in power has led to some of the most radical legislation ever witnessed in this nation.
Congress has attempted to abolish the electoral college, create a socialized healthcare system, and even disband law enforcement departments. For the time being, we the people still maintain the power to vote away the despots who would abandon our founding documents for the sake of absolute power. This November is our opportunity to hold the children in office responsible for their reckless behavior and ensure for our posterity the blessing of liberty for generations to come.
