Charlotte, NC — There was no doubt that the 2020 election was heating up into a critical battle going into November. The polls have shown the race tightening and it appears that it could be a close race just like in 2016. While elections generally talk about an October surprise, this year we got it in September.
With the death of Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, the 2020 election takes on a whole different view. I think everyone knew that Ginsberg was most likely not going to make it through another Presidential term given the state of her health. Democrats’ worst nightmares came true when she died before they had a chance at a Biden election.
Now, Democrats vow to do anything they can to block a potential Trump appointment to the high court. They have threatened to riot and burn everything. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have both indicated that impeachment is on the table to potentially stop the nomination.
These threats show just how concerned the Democrats are about potentially having a third Trump appointee on the Supreme Court. If you thought the Kavanaugh confirmation was bad, it is about to get much worse.
President Trump has vowed to nominate a new justice by Friday or Saturday. McConnell has said the Senate will take on the nomination and will vote on the nomination, with many pushing for it to happen before the November 3 election. The Democrats are already planning their next move, which highlights the battle they want to wage.
Joe Biden, and radical running-mate Kamala Harris, have both said multiple times this is a battle for the soul of the nation. This may be the only true statement either has said during the campaign.
Democrats, if they were to win in November, have full intentions of overriding all the Trump appointees by stacking the Supreme Court with additional liberal justices. The move would create a situation in which conservative thought would stand no chance at approval in any situation. That’s not the only concern, however.
Earlier this year, liberal media outlet, The Atlantic, ran an article that suggested larger states be broken up to create more liberal states. Others have said that the Democrats could also accomplish the goal by granting statehood to Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. Both would create additional liberal senators that benefit the Democrats.
The Democrats have also indicated they would want to proceed with eliminating the Electoral College. Such a move would take a constitutional amendment. If the Democrats stack the courts, and the Senate, they would certainly move to abolish the Electoral College. If they granted statehood to DC and Puerto Rico, such an amendment would need 39 states. So far, twenty states have agreed to the National Popular Vote Compact.
The issues are clear, the 2020 election is not just about the leadership of the country. No, the 2020 election is also about the very existence of conservative thought. Depending on the results of the election, conservatives may never have a voice again.
Rural areas may never be able to be appropriately represented in Congress, constantly being overruled by large metropolitan areas. Conservatives will continue to be silenced and will lose legal challenges in the Supreme Court as liberal justices will side with the “benefit of the public” argument to silence them. These are just some of the simple things that can be expected.
I agree with Biden and Harris that this election is a real battle. This is about so much more than the soul of the nation. The 2020 election is about the very existence of America as we know it. If the Democrats gain control, the nation we know and love will disappear.
