Charlotte, NC — All across the mainstream media, celebrations were in order Monday night as the long awaited coronavirus relief bill was passed. The media celebrated it because it provided extensions for many of the socialist plans and direct payments to Americans. They completely ignored the spending bill that it was attached to.
Congress was up against a deadline to pass a spending bill to keep the government open. One would think this would include necessary functions, like funding DHS, the FBI, DOJ, Education, military pay/funding, etc. Not exactly.
The spending bill was $1.4 trillion, yes trillion, in ridiculous spending programs that Congress passed. The spending programs included domestic and international projects that have absolutely no benefit to Americans at all.
Some of those ridiculous Projects include: Over $26 million for the Kennedy Center, $10 million for gender programs in Pakistan, $193 million for HIV workers abroad to buy new cars, $1.5 million for diversity and inclusion in a US government agency, funds to investigate race riots in 1908, funds to study horseracing, billions for clean energy projects, billions to countries overseas for support, and many more.
The bill was over 5500 pages in total length, with members of Congress given just a few hours to review the bill. Yes, just a few hours to review 5500 pages of legislation of which the overwhelming majority was special projects and wasteful spending.
As the bill made its way through Congress, one thing became completely clear. The overwhelming majority of the members of Congress continue to be a problem for the American people.
If you have listened to my show or followed my writings, I never once said that a package was not needed. I do believe that there are areas of our economy that have suffered due to the coronavirus. I do believe that a targeted bill was probably necessary to help.
Congress felt like they would pull a fast one on the American people stuffing the coronavirus aid into a spending package. They believed that you would not pay attention to their billions of dollars in support of ridiculous projects.
For example, how about the $5 million for regulating marijuana. Or the millions spent in aid of foreign countries. There’s nothing quite like sending $40 million to Costa Rica, $25 million to fight gender based violence in Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador and these are just a few.
While Congress sends billions of your dollars elsewhere, they want you to be satisfied with just $600. They believe that $600 is plenty for most Americans. Do you see what is wrong with this picture?
Americans are suffering through a pandemic, forced shut downs, and closures. It isn’t by their own choosing, but rather the choosing of their ridiculous leaders. All the while, they are still paying their thousands in tax dollars.
Those thousands of dollars that the federal government has no issue giving away across the world. Of course, in January we will start hearing the Democrats make more arguments for how we need to become socialist, forcing everyone to depend on the federal government.
Rather than running our government billions of dollars further into debt through these ridiculous spending plans, perhaps the federal government should focus on addressing the debt and returning funds to Americans if we have so much extra to give away. Americans would love to have more money in their pockets each paycheck because their government is responsible.
Except ours is not. They are anything but responsible as they continue to live above their means. This bill did not fund the federal government. It funded pet projects and ridiculous ventures that the US government should never be involved in.
Rather than trying to figure out how we can support the world, we should be focused on supporting people at home. Supporting the men and women in uniform, both military and our critical first responders, who are so under appreciated for the work they do.
Rather than supporting the world, we need to put the money back into America. Put the money back in the hands of the people who work hard everyday to make this country so great.
