Raleigh, N.C. – Democrats across the country have begun to praise PResident Trump for his response to the coronavirus. This comes as Democrats were initially blaming Trump for many things relating to the highly contagious virus. All things aside, the praise for President Trump comes at a great time when people across the country need to hear this. Our country needs to see everyone united behind our leader.
On Tuesday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo praised Trump and his response team. In his comments, Cuomo said that Trump’s team was on top of things with the virus. He indicated that Trump is 100% sincere in his desire to work through the virus and help the state. He added that the state cannot do this without the help of the federal government.
The praise continued on Wednesday as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) called President Trump’s response ‘incredible.’ The comments came in regards to a tweet about Trump suspending mortgage foreclosures and demanding cash payments for Americans. She continued that unprecedented times call for unprecedented leadership. You can see her comments below.

Finally, we should never let politics get in the way of good policy. This is a great start and hope others will be part of a united front to push for good policies that will help us work through the economic anxiety the country is feeling right now.

The praise comes as Senators are still mulling the plan to send Americans checks to help with the economic downturn. According to reports, GOP Senators are negotiating a plan and will bring in their Democrat counterparts once they reach an agreement among themselves. Many members of Congress on both sides of the aisle have spoken out in regards to the plan.
I’ve shared my feelings and concerns about the legislation in general. I would agree that some measure needs to be taken, but I am concerned about the way we do it. The government continues to have issues with ballooning debt. Simply adding on additional debt is not always the answer.
I also realize that the economy is on the brink, however. From the shortages of valuable goods, services and even money runs, Americans are concerned about tomorrow. Will a couple thousand dollar checks be enough to curb the concerns? I doubt it.
My hope is that Congress comes up with a more encompassing response rather than just focusing on cash as the media has been pushing. We need a great plan, not just a quick fix. It should certainly be concerning that it’s winning President Trump the praise of Democrats. Or perhaps, they’ve finally decided it’s time to pull together for the good of the country for once.
