On Wednesday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemed to be concerned with the legacy that people will remember. She seemed excited about the fact that people will forever remember President Trump as an impeached President. She claims this is a stain on his legacy. Where exactly should I begin?
Every person leaves a legacy on this world, no matter who they are. A legacy can be a good thing, but it can also be a bad thing. Think about the amazing legacy of some great Americans. George Washington left a legacy of being a valiant leader. Thomas Jefferson left a legacy of his great writings and knowledge. Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr left a legacy of two feuding political rivals that ended up with a murderous duel.
Yes, a legacy leaves a memory that can last for quite some time. Pelosi is not wrong to call out the long lasting memory that is part of the Trump presidency. Obviously, we have the memories of former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment. But I argue that there was evidence in his case that proved his guilt on certain things. We also have the memory of President Obama as an apologizer.
So what legacy is Trump leaving? We all know his legacy has a stain from the Stormy Daniels situation. It’s also marred by the recording that was released just prior to the election with his statements. But President Trump will also be remembered for his economic policies. Record low unemployment is an obvious victory and will shape his legacy.
He will be remembered for putting America first. The negotiation of the new China trade deal and the USMCA will all be part of Trump’s legacy. NAFTA was questioned, but no one realized the actual effects until years later. In 10 years, how will we judge President Trump? Will the trade policies be successful? Time will only tell, but they certainly appear to be an improvement.
Trump has stood for American workers. As you read the list, nearly every demographic is a beneficiary of his work. His focus on Americans has been the driving force. He isn’t looking at everyone else. He worries about those who cast a vote for him.
My suggestion is that Speaker Pelosi look at what her legacy will be. She will be remembered for the failure that is Obamacare, a horrible economic recovery act and many other failed policies. Every time I think of Pelosi, I will forever remember her defense of the squad members. Their open anti-semitism and anti-American speech will forever be part of Pelosi’s legacy.
I also think about her actions on the day that they impeached Trump. She has the distinction as the Speaker that day who presided over the vote. I remember the actions she had to take to quiet the cheers of her unprofessional colleagues who have attacked Trump from day 1. We will all remember her support of Iran and other terrorist regimes.
If anyone is concerned about legacy, I would suggest that Pelosi look at her own. Her legacy is full of failed policy, supporting terrorists, supporting anti-American legislators and mumblings that are incomprehensible. I agree, Trump is far from a perfect man. I have never hid that thought. But, if you are going to look into legacy, Speaker Pelosi, I suggest you look at your own.
