You simply cannot watch TV or read the news online without seeing something promoting Socialist ideas. Two of the main presidential candidates on the left are socialist. Most of the other candidates offer socialist plans and tendencies. Popular representatives in Congress are outspoken members of the Democratic Socialists of America. It’s a huge change front the capitalistic environment of my youth.
Bernie Sanders argues that our socialism should be patterned after Nordic countries, but they are not even truly socialist. I have argued many times on here that the form of socialism that the left is proposing is more like communism. It promises all the greatest things in the world, but the math simply does not add up.
If socialism is so wonderful and so awesome, why has it never been successful? Mark Perry wrote a great article about this in 2016, describing why socialism always fails. It is not much different than a Ponzi or pyramid scheme as he describes. It may look great and start great, but always leads to tyranny, poverty and misery.
So as I reflect on this, the question I ask myself is “what are these socialists missing?” I mean AOC and the squad have all achieved a part of the American dream, thanks in part to the freedom we all have. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are both been part of the American dream, from book deals to law careers. What is so bad about capitalism?
As you think about it, the problem is not capitalism at all. I believe part of the problem is a hunger for power and a streak of greed. Most of all, I think that the problem is that they are truly missing something. They desire something in their lives that they are truly missing.
Think about it, they dream of providing a world that is full of happiness, equality and where everyone is on equal ground. We all know that the real world doesn’t work this way. It’s as if they are dreaming of a fairy tale world that does not exist. They dream of being the “savior” to everyone in the world.
The problem is that they are not equipped to be the “savior” of the world. They can dream of the power and the equality and all those happy thoughts. Yet, they are simply trying to fill a void in their lives, one that can only be filled by a true Savior.
As a Christian, I can appreciate and value the freedom that I have. I understand that I should work and contribute to society as I can. In Scripture, 1 Timothy 5:8 teaches me this concept. It teaches me to give to my church, to be charitable. I want to help those in need, but I also want to truly help those in need. I do not want to simply help those who choose to need.
If you consider the history of the United States, we were never a country that felt we needed free handouts. Our founders fought for our freedom. Our grandparents and their parents went through tough times, but worked hard to make sure their families had what was needed. But must of fall, they had a faith in God that guided them.
Our country does not need socialism. We do not need free handouts, free programs or any of the other feel good things that the left is proposing. As a nation, we need to put our faith back in God. Without God, our nation will continue to look for something, continuing to be left in misery.
