Hillary Clinton continues to be a focal point of the 2020 election, with her most recent comments coming at the Sundance Film Festival. Clinton continued to blame Bernie Sanders for her losing the 2016 election. It’s certainly sad she cannot seem to get over the loss, but this is not all that she said.
Clinton was promoting her documentary, a 4-hour experience where Clinton’s life and experiences are shared from her point of view. She shared her history of working towards universal, affordable healthcare and the challenges she faced. She discussed her recent statements about Bernie Sanders as well. Those statements have made waves throughout the news over the past week.
Now, she talked about how she believes that the electoral college should be demolished. She calls the electoral college an anachronism. In other words, she believes that the electoral college serves no purpose and is old. She favors a popular vote option. But the election of 2016 was exactly why the electoral college was made. She simply cannot accept her defeat.
She also claims that she was the first Democrat to face the struggle of voter suppression and voter purge. In her words, this was caused by a Supreme Court ruling on the Voting Rights Act and Citizens United. Of course, she continues the lie of foreign interference and election interference.
This is just a continuation of her refusal to accept her defeat. Democrats do not believe there is any way someone would vote for President Trump or support his agenda. But the real question is why is Hillary Clinton still in the public eye? While I have proposed that she could potentially run for the 2020 nomination, the time has essentially expired and she needs to move on.
Clinton is at Sundance promoting herself. She is pushing her narrative and her popularity, working on a celebrity status. This is something that Democrats attacked Trump for in 2016. If you remember, they talked about how his ability to be on TV shows did not qualify him for President. Yet, Clinton wants to be like him?
It certainly brings a whole new meaning to the phrase if you can’t beat them, join them doesn’t it? On a side note, Clinton’s documentary will be coming to Hulu in March. If you have 4 hours with nothing better to do, I’m sure it will help put you to sleep.
