(Phoenix) Arizona lawmakers introduced last week a bill aimed at stopping people, and businesses, from selling or owning assault weapons and large-capacity magazines. Senator Rebecca Rios sponsored Senate Bill 1625, and 11 other lawmakers backed the legislation.
SB 1625 contains detailed definitions of what constitutes an assault weapon. These definitions include, among other things, a “semi-automatic rifle that can accept a detachable magazine.” It also defines what is a large capacity magazine, categorizing it as “any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than ten rounds,” with certain exceptions.
If Senate Bill 1625 is approved, it will ban a person, corporation, or other entities from manufacturing, importing, possessing, purchasing, selling, or transferring any assault weapon or large-capacity magazine.
Gun owners would have to move weapons that fit the description out of Arizona, make them inoperable, or hand them over to the appropriate law enforcement agency within 90 days of the legislation passing. Violators could be charged with as high as a Class 4 felony, which is punishable up to 3.75 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
On February 12, 2020, the House of Delegates in Richmond, Virginia, voted 51-48 to pass House Bill 961 following fierce opposition from citizens. Michael Bloomberg’s bought and paid for lawmakers have moved HB 961 very quickly. Despite this, Second Amendment supporters have mobilized quickly at each step. HB 961 will now move to the Senate.
House Bill 961, as amended, is a comprehensive ban on many commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, suppressors, and standard capacity magazines. Though the committee amended the bill to allow citizens to keep currently owned firearms and suppressors, confiscation is undoubtedly still the end goal. There is no option for citizens to keep their lawfully acquired magazines with capacities higher than twelve rounds, forcing millions of Virginians to dispose of their property, become a criminal, or surrender them to the government.
“Legislative Liberals” and “Democratic-Socialists” have invaded many states across the nation. As a result, individual freedoms and protections are in jeopardy of being lost. While the Democratic President Candidates are busy wooing votes from their “Bolshevic Bases,” as our nation heads into local, state, and federal elections, in 2020, Americans must remain vigilant to ensure that our “God-given rights” are not infringed upon by the sweeping measures of the “Communist Party on Parade.”
