The leftists of the United States are celebrating recent action in Norway. In a message sent out by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, students were urged to return home as quickly as possible to Norway. This comes in response to the rapidly spreading COVID-19, but the left sees this as an opportunity to push agenda.
Immediately following the letter, Jeremy Klemin posted a portion of the letter on Twitter for users to read. Here’s what he posted:
Damn, Norway. pic.twitter.com/IwHskXGkB0

There’s just one issue, he only screen shot part of the story. The left quickly jumped onto the post and started using it to push for their socialist agenda. The Huffington Post did similar with their article that they posted. The US was accused of being poorly developed, but the story is not 100% accurate. Other users have posted more details from the letter which you can see here.
As you can see, the full letter describes Norway’s desire to limit travel to prevent exposure to the coronavirus. So the school opted to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and recommend to limit travel. The left certainly did not lose this as an opportunity to attack the US, however.
The US has laws that prevent a hospital from turning away someone in a life threatening situation. The EMTALA law is the the law and you can read more about it here if you wish. Norway was not attacking the health care system of the United States, but rather potential transportation issues. If you have ever traveled, you can understand it can be a headache getting to and from the airport. No one can deny that.
Yet, here we have a case of fake news being spread by the left, but no one is taking action against that. The left is not pushing for fact checking of this case. The socialists can distribute their edited, misleading propaganda, but not conservatives. Yet another example of the double standard in the US.
The Huffington Post should pull the story immediately, as it implies the US healthcare system is poor. I’ll be honest, the WHO ranks the United States Healthcare system as 37th in the world. It does lag behind Norway in those rankings. Why, well it’s because of cost. The WHO notes that our healthcare performance pulls us up in the rankings. We spend more on healthcare than the majority of other countries, which is the ranking issue.
I will not say that I have all the answers, but the answer is not to immediately jump on part of the story like this. As Rahm Emmanuel said, you should never let a good crisis go to waste. The left is certainly capitalizing on this one.
