Ottawa, Canada — The Freedom Convoy has now reached one week in Canada’s capitol city of Ottawa.
The biggest recent news is the threats by the authoritarian regime has not deterred the trucker’s seeking freedom. Threats of bringing the military in were shut down this week as the Canadian military has stated it will not engage in law enforcement, but GoFundMe has shut down the convoy’s fundraiser and will not release over $9 million in funds.
Yesterday, one of Ottawa’s many tinpot dictators, Chief of Police Peter Sloly, threatened the demonstrators with a heavy hand and a “zero tolerance” policy.
“We’ve got a lot of unacceptable and unlawful activities,” Sloly said.
This maniac went on to threaten people who even send funds to the truckers.
“We will hold to account not just the demonstrators but those that fund and enable the demonstrators in any way,” Sloly said. “And we will have a hardened plan for the weekend’s demonstrations including concrete barriers, expanding that red zone and locking down bridges, highways and major thoroughfares to reduce the ability of vehicles and trucks to come in, and when they come in to target them, ticket them and remove them as best we can.”
However, earlier in the week Sloly admitted “there have been no riots, injuries or deaths,” and the official numbers from his police department show that crime has sharply dropped since the truckers reached Ottawa.
Let’s take a look at these “hardened criminals,” shall we? Video from Friday night showed a party with dancing, fireworks and people generally just having a good time. Really got crack down on fun, don’t we?
Sloly requested the military to step in, but the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) responded with a statement that they “are not involved in law enforcement in this situation, and there are no plans for such CAF involvement.”
On the GoFundMe front, they’ve decided to submit to the tyrants. You may recall that convoy organizer Tamara Lich went to bat for GoFundMe stating the fundraising site was working well with them despite media reports suggesting otherwise. Unfortunately, GoFundMe showed its true colors this week.
The convoy fundraiser had raised over $10 million while only $1 million had been released.
In a GoFundMe statement, it initially said on Friday that it would not refund donations but would “work with organizers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities by the Freedom Convoy 2022 organizers.” An update early Saturday morning showed that GoFundMe plans to now refund donors “due to donor feedback,” and it “will automatically refund all contributions directly.”
The convoy has since moved over to GiveSendGo where over $600,000 has been raised as of the time of this writing. In a video, Lich said: “We plan to be here for the long haul, as long as it takes to ensure that your rights and freedoms are restored.”
Rebel News continues to provide Convoy Reports as the news on the ground constantly changes. One of the things that appears constant is this convoy is working no matter how hard the authoritarians and mainstream liars try to squash it.
Polling from Canada has shown a 15-point swing since the convoy began with now 54% of Canadians now supporting a complete end to COVID-19 tyranny.
Australia provides a good example. Last summer, Aussie truckers planned a convoy. The Australian government chose to stop a vax mandate for truckers. That convoy didn’t materialize because of that decision, but as we all know, the tyranny has gotten worse down under. The truckers got what they wanted in the short term, but they’re back in the same place needing the convoy again.
The Canadian convoy has vowed to stay in Ottawa until the tyranny ends. So, here’s a message for them. You’re winning so keep holding that line.
