Sacramento, CA — California Governor Gavin Newsom has selected Alex Padilla to fill the Senate seat vacated by Kamala Harris. Alex Padilla is the current Secretary of State in California and would be the state’s first Latino Senator.
Padilla seems to be the perfect fit for replacing Kamala Harris, the most radical Senator in Congress. He is pro-choice, a strong advocate for planned-parenthood, and has horrible ratings from the California Chamber of Commerce.
He has strong ratings from the equality groups in California, as he has promoted and supported LGBTQ causes. He has a failing grade from the NRA, having promoted red flag laws.
Padilla will also support the socialist agenda, as he has in the state of California. He has openly supported single-payer health systems in the state and would easily support Medicare for All given the opportunity.
Padilla is also currently involved in a controversy involving a $34 million voter outreach contract. The state does not have the funding to pay the bill for the contract that Padilla negotiated, and it is not clear who will pay the bill at this point.
Padilla had been considered the front runner due to his prominent position and close relationship with Gov. Newsom. With the selection of Padilla, Newsom continues the trend of radical leftists from California. Confirmation is not required for this position, and Padilla’s seat will be up for election in 2022.
